Anti-Aging Articular Process
Within all the pathologies that affect individuals from the 4th decade of life, osteoarthritis is the most common, estimated to occur in 90% of the adult population. It is has old has the history of mankind.
Osteoarthritis results from an abnormal process between the cartilage destruction and its repair. The basic function of joint cartilage is to reduce friction between two bone surfaces when they execute any kind of movement, functioning as a mechanism to absorb shock.
To improve this mechanism, there is the synovial fluid that lubricates the joints.
To maintain a good articular health we have sysadoas (Symptomatic Slowing Acting Drugs) that includes hyaluoronic acid, glucosamine and condrotine.
In patients with osteoarthritis, the concentration of hyaluronic acid in synovial fluid is diminished, so the treatment called for viscosupplementation begins to become important.
This process consists in a series of intra-articular injections with the aim to restore the quality and concentration of this component in the synovial fluid, improving the lubrication and shock absorption capability and subsequently reducing pain.
Glucosamine and condrotine contribute to the cellular protection, condrocites protection and maintenance of the structural support of the cartilage.
The author presents the recent concepts and therapeutic forms of osteoarthritis whose goal is to prevent and treat the anti-aging articular process.
